Jordan Poirier
BIO
Jordan Poirier is a designer/maker who creates primarily functional solid wood furniture for the home. Jordan grew up surrounded by nature and the craft of woodworking; from a young age he spent his winters tinkering in his father's basement shop and his summers exploring the endless wilderness of northern Ontario’s lakes and bays, on wooden boats built by his grandfather. Jordan's work is inspired by the stillness of the natural world he grew up in. He aims to emphasize the connections formed between object and user through the longevity of his materials and the formation of patinas over time.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
STILL OBJECTS
Still Objects is an alternative interpretation of the home office inspired by studio and workshop environments. The collection embraces the inevitable passing of time and wearing of materials to create intimate connection between object and user. Through an appreciation for the simple and mundane moments of the day, Still Objects encourages reflection and meditation in a what can be a traditionally stressful space.
