BIO
I am an illustrator and a textile designer who enjoys using different media in my creative work. I enjoy working with hands-on media like watercolour, oil painting, pencil sketches, etc. With a combination of both abstract and concrete designs, I took advantage of my drawing skills in textiles surface design, and create structured garments with a 2-dimensional surface design. I see different possibilities in my work, and I enjoy designing through storytelling and bringing meaning to the artwork.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
WALKING THROUGH THE MIST
My capstone project focuses on the idea of “walking through the mist”; when there are times that I can see and times when things are unclear. The journey of “walking through the mist” allows me to explore and experience the surprises of life that are unexpected and new. “Walking through the mist” is presented as a two-piece garment; that contains an opaque dress and a transparent jacket to convey an internal and external story of my identity. The story behind the dress' repeat pattern is the identity of my experiences as a Canadian-born Taiwanese. The jacket symbolizes the mist to convey the unknown surroundings of my life journey. I have learned from these experiences and the identities presented to my life. I work with vibrant colours to show confidence in adaptation, which allows me to see things with a positive attitude, and have a clear, open mind toward new experiences.
