Coley
BIO
Coley is a multidisciplinary artist based in Tkaronto, whose path is driven by continual experimentation and making. Their practice is largely process-based and explores duality, space, and essence.
Coley’s relationship to glass is shaped by their ongoing engagement with collage, drawing, and performance. Coley combines glass techniques with established personal methodologies and materials to create sculptures and installations grounded in play, movement, and experience.
Drawn to its dynamic nature, Coley has undertaken a passionate quest to learn the dying art of neon bending. This evolving body of work reflects their continued exploration of embodied place, perception, and material gesture.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
PARALLAX
Parallax is an investigation into how emotional landscapes inform the experience of place. Drawing from psychogeographic methodologies, this body of work considers how repeated and thoughtful exploration can inspire a re-evaluation of both physical and psychological terrain.
I am currently examining two contrasting yet interconnected sites. The ‘Pit’ is based in raw, foundational memories—a space that represents the unrestrained freedom of childhood and the transient nature of personal history. The ‘Spit’ is a landscape defined by a transformation of intention, where detritus is an enduring marker of human presence. These environments, with their unique narratives, illustrate the dual process of decay and recovery that is central to my understanding of place.
I am compelled to create so that I may connect personal resonance with collective comprehension. Parallax encourages creativity in how we perceive and navigate the environments that shape us, aspiring to an integrated understanding of space.
