CAPSTONE PROJECT
CANLIGHTS
This project explores Canadian architectural heritage through light, drawing inspiration from the windows of historic buildings found across the country. Windows serve as both functional and symbolic elements, shaping interior atmospheres while reflecting the cultural context in which they were designed.
By focusing on symmetry and pattern, this collection reinterprets recognizable architectural forms into simplified, evocative geometries. Rather than direct replicas, the pieces capture the rhythm, proportion, and character of these structures, translating them into contemporary lighting.
Through illumination, these forms are brought to life, revealing structure, emphasizing repetition, and creating a subtle emotional connection to the built environment. The work invites viewers to experience Canadian architecture in a new way, where light becomes a medium for both reflection and reinterpretation.
