Ana Falceta
BIO
Ana Falceta is a Brazilian textile artist and designer based in Oakville, Ontario.
Having lived for many years next to the tropical nature of Rio de Janeiro awakened her gaze and love for nature and colours tremendously. She has always been fascinated by the physical reactions that colour, form and texture may trigger.
Ana delves her textile practice creating vibrant designs that explore multi-layered and colourful compositions. She works with a blend of textile techniques and processes to generate new patterns and textures to give voice and life to her pieces.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
INTRINSECUS
I explore the subject of involuntary memory through colour, various traditional textile processes, and material textures.
Through three 20"x30" digitally designed, printed and handmade textile panels, I imaginatively create a triptych that reveals my most intense memories from my time in Brazil.
Through the medium of yarn and cotton fabric, I have made a series that depicts my thoughts and speaks about the memory phases, namely Encoding, Storing and Retrieving.
This work aims to attract the viewer inviting for new interpretations and opening the opportunity to intensify their visual perceptions and affective reactions about colour, form and texture.
