Jessica Trotter
BIO
Jessica has always been inspired by colour, surface designs, and sewing. As a result, falling in love with fashion came as no surprise. Influences from haute couture runways, antique markets, organic prints, and various decades of fashion inspire her pieces.
As a designer, Jessica saw a lack of connection between individuals and their garments, particularly with traditional techniques and high-quality fabrics, which are a focus of her designs. Each one of her creations effortlessly embodies a sense of vintage flair, creating forward-thinking concepts that bring classic, colourful, and contemporary aspects into every piece. She keeps originality in mind, marrying classic fashions with innovative trends in every new collection.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
M’FHÍORGHRÁ
‘Freyja’, the final product of my capstone project M’fhíorghrá (Irish: My True Love), is an opulent velvet wedding gown that creates a tactile narrative encapsulating the individualism of myself and my partner through devoréd imagery.
The symmetrical panels present a visual tale of our shared culture, history, and Love. Originating from Ireland, England, Scotland, Canada, and Denmark, each symbol fulfills a coherent sense of visual harmony. The depictions on the gown were meticulously selected and illustrated with true intention, adding originality that is truly unique and captivating.
With a soft organic cotton sateen lining, a touch of silk organza, and finished with the luxurious feel of devoré velvet, this dress is unlike any common ready-to-order gown on the market.
This wedding dress is a powerful and symbolic piece of iconography, used to express one’s love and individuality. Crafted by hand, this gown brings sentimentality and old traditions to life, forming a new heirloom for future generations.
