CAPSTONE PROJECT
THE DIVERSE
‘The Diverse’ represents the physical manifestation of my response to the various social issues of today including racial and cultural prejudice, speaking to the need and benefits of embracing cultural differences rather than rejecting them.
By combining independent and unique elements in textile and fabric manipulation I have created an imagined unified world that is ‘out of this world’. I invite everyone to enjoy and take refuge in a world filled with diverse cultures, dyes and pigments, rhythm and emotion.
Why do I take you out of this world? Because I believe that the problems facing humanity cannot be fixed without divine intervention. Although my work is not intended to solve these issues, it serves as a symbolic representation of the power and beauty that can be achieved if we came together as one people under one purpose, while maintaining our individuality.
