CAPSTONE PROJECT
CHILDHOOD TERRARIUMS
The environment of terrariums is said to be unique in every vessel and through time evolve to different stages of growth. Similar to how people are unique and have their own stories to tell, this Capstone Project consists of a jacket, and a series of bags that portrays the comfort of terrariums as a metaphor. Using the artist as an example, this collection showcases her growth by commemorating her childhood memories to represent how these imaginary creatures helped her grow into the person she is today. Moving from one country to another invited many confusing changes in her life. Since arriving to Canada, her family moved from a multitude of places in search for a permanent home. During this busy period, she made her own stationary home by surrounding herself with imaginary pets. These two creatures impacted her life in different ways. In a way, these are her “terrariums”.
