Aleksandr Semenov
BIO
Aleksandr Semenov is an industrial design student and artist living in Oakville, Ontario. His work involves designing a wide variety of products and objects. During his four years of study, he had designed food packages, light fixtures, furniture, toys, and even a water filter. As someone who values personal comfort, he attempts to design each product in a way that it would be convenient and comfortable to use. His former education in the field of art also made him see beauty in organic forms, and so majority of his designs have smooth edges and round forms.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
GOOD EVENING TREE LAMP
Good Evening Lamp is an Industrial Design capstone project made by Aleksandr Semenov. It is a biophilic light fixture that would illuminate a living room for evening activities and create a relaxing atmosphere by having warm, calming light and acting as a nature-themed decoration. Introducing natural imagery into the interior space to help people rest after a day of work.
Good Evening Lamp is inspired by the concept of biophilia and attempts to translate the visual imagery of trees, plants and evening sunlight into a light fixture. This lamp is meant for people who spend majority of their time at home and want a piece of furniture which would remind them of natural world.
This project is also an exploration of 3D printing as a production method, and how 3D printing can be used to create an object that represents complex organic structures as simple geometric and organic shapes.
