Leticia Lakatos

BIO

Leticia Lakatos was originally born in Szombathely, Hungary and has always had a deep love for nature and textiles. She loves repurposing materials, taking inspiration from traditional Hungarian motifs, folktales. embroidery, and from the natural environments around her. Leticia would often watch her mother sew costumes and explore different mediums of textiles, often joining in on her projects, which is where she first found her love for the craft. Currently finishing her degree at Sheridan College for a Bachelor's in Craft and Design, Textiles, Leticia hopes to continue bringing her love for nature and textiles together; exploring different textures and tactile methods within her work.

CAPSTONE PROJECT

THROUGH THE TREES

Grounded is a collection of items that can be used within a home or bedroom setting. It focuses on the meditative and healing qualities of nature, allowing you to ‘forest bathe’ within your own home while stimulating your different senses such as sight, touch, smell and sound. Using a variety of different techniques such as embroidery, quilting, nuno/wet felting, weight and incorporating fibers that produce smell and sound, this collection helps you to destress, relax and de-stimulate your senses from a busy day. Each item can be used in a variety of different ways and areas of your home. While playing with texture, light and natural imagery, this collection of home items will leave you feeling centered, calm and grounded. Touching on the importance of immersing yourself in nature whether you are stuck inside, or just coming home from a busy day, this collection allows you to escape through nature in the comfort of your own home.
