Yifei Zhang

Yifei Zhang is a textile designer focusing on designing and crafting for textile parts in interior. With a background of electrical engineering, her works have very strong unique personal style which are clean, modern, structural, organized, balanced, nostalgic and contrastive. Delivering positiveness and happiness by her works and finding balance from contrastive elements are what she keeps seeking out for. Her designs have been inspired a lot by architecture, furniture, photography and nature.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
REVEAL
Everyone has contrasting elements in our personalities and everything happened can be seen in more than one point of views. I love to find the beauty from balance of contrastive elements as well as to reveal different views in my work. If the contrast is really strong, it can catch our attention; if the contrast is subtle, it can bring some poetry to what we see in a gentle way. The main concept behind my project is finding balance from contrasts as well as bringing unexpected new views making the audiences or users to get power, positiveness and happiness. My capstone project is mainly focusing on making a curtain which can control the light amount coming through to reveal that sometimes light is hidden but we can find it out. It will be focused on juxtaposition of materials, textures, colours and dimensions in a modern, structural, clean and organized way.
