Yuexian Wu
BIO
Yuexian Wu is a craft and design textile art student who developed a childhood interest in Chinese painting as a result of her grandfather being a Chinese artist. She then went on to complete a four-year undergraduate degree in Textile at Sheridan College from 2018-2022.
She grew up in China and is committed to incorporating elements of Chinese culture into her artwork. She believes that although cultural barriers are difficult to bridge with simple language, visual beauty can resonate with people from different cultural backgrounds. She also believes that behind every piece of art is the study of one or more cultures. So the way she creates her work will start with understanding a culture.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
INTERMEDIATE
This project wants to show the relationship between human beings and nature and future technology in the form of clothing.
Clothing is an object close to the human body, and the natural environment and future technology are as closely related to humans as clothing. But looking back at the history of human beings, every time when technology exploded, it brought irreversible damage to the environment. So I want to combine the elements of nature and future technology. When people wear the clothes, they can feel that nature and future technology are as closely related to them as the clothes.
