BIO
Bram Locknick is an artist and sculptor who works primarily with kiln formed and blown glass. Being from Windsor Ontario he was inspired at an early age by the figures of the towering Detroit skyline. With a background in philosophy he follows his curious instincts in order to develop conceptual work and translate those concepts into glass. Driven by an urge to make, his artwork and design is pursuant of knowledge and process that translates concepts and experience into sculptural artworks.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
FORM
Forms have qualities and parts; my work focuses on treating those qualities as components that can be modified and manipulated to create sculpture. With a focus on abstract minimalist geometric form, using it as a set of lines and surfaces, and subtractive processes to derive sculptures. Using glass with this concept is ideal given its castable and malleable qualities, allowing me to create sculptures that emphasize the materials volumetric and optical characteristics.
