CAPSTONE PROJECT
COOKMATE
CookMate is a set of protective guards for the kitchen, aimed to prevent children from reaching the stove top surface or an into open oven. Young children are particularly at risk because of developing cognitive and motor skills needed to perform important decision making and activities. Through copying their parents actions, there is a tendency for children to test the limits and eventually face the ultimate consequences. The goal is to provide parents and those also caring for young children with an assistance tool to prevent injuries and deaths among such children, oven and stove related. The guards act as a last resort barrier for exposed hotspots and openings from scalds or burns when adults hands are full and commands are not obeyed.
