Chufan Gao is a Chinese ceramic artist who explores the connection between childhood memories and picture book illustrations. She transforms these illustrations into narrative sculptures, each with a unique story, creating a tiny world where each sculpture possesses its warmth and extends an invitation to the audience.

WELCOM TO THE AMUSEMENT PARK
Childhood memories, for me, are an elusive and blurred concept; many of my childhood recollections have already disappeared. In my body of work, I explore the connection between memories and illustrated children’s books. All my inspiration comes from my own childhood memories and I transform these illustrations into narrative sculptures, each with a unique story. I create a tiny world where each sculpture possesses its own warmth and extends an invitation to the viewer.
