BIO

Saadet Sebnem Kural has always loved hands-on making. Through her toy project, she explores open-ended systems that encourage children to build, experiment, and learn through doing. She is interested in how objects can evolve with use and create meaningful, engaging experiences over time. She decided to pursue this interest further by studying in the Honours Bachelor of Craft and Design Furniture program.

CAPSTONE PROJECT

PEANUTS

Peanuts is a modular, reconfigurable toy set designed for children aged 3 to 6, encouraging exploration of structure through play. Rooted in open-ended, process-focused learning, the system supports STEM-oriented development, particularly introducing fundamental engineering concepts through hands-on interaction. The project draws inspiration from the logic of a bike chain, where interconnected parts create both structure and flexibility. This principle is translated into the main peanut component. Designed and fabricated as a tactile system, Peanuts invites children to experiment, build, and reimagine forms, shifting the focus from fixed outcomes to an evolving process of discovery.
