Vera Urban
BIO
Vera Urban is a ceramic artist whose work explores the translation of memory, emotion, and lived experience into sculptural form. Working intuitively, she constructs dynamic compositions from layered elements and flowing ribbons of clay, emphasizing rhythm, movement, and tension. Her practice draws inspiration from everyday objects, personal narratives, and material experimentation, transforming familiar forms into abstract, expressive structures. Through this process, Vera creates pieces that act as physical records, capturing moments that are both deeply personal and universally resonant.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
WAVE
Wave, the capstone project, explores movement, rhythm, and emotional flow through abstract ceramic sculpture. Using long ribbons of clay wrapped around cylindrical supports, I build layered, looping forms that echo the motion of waves. The process is both controlled and intuitive, allowing each piece to evolve through balance and tension. These forms reflect cycles of energy and repetition, translating internal experiences into physical movement. The work captures a sense of continuous motion, where structure and fluidity exist at the same time.
