Brief: My goal was to create an interactive public seating, designed to engage and encourage outdoor relaxation, connection and observation in Sherbourne common park through sculptural installation.
Many public seating options are designed a little restrictive and small to prevent people from overstaying their welcome or void off homeless individuals.
These design choices are restrictive, but they become one of the factors that deter users from enjoying their experience of the outdoors as they are unable to get comfortable and relax.
I designed a communal seating that will encourage interaction, whether it is with people, the environment or the object itself, while simultaneously exploring the element of play through form and structure.
I want this design to encourage urban city residents with busy lifestyles to indulge in outdoor relaxation and connect to their environment in a city full of skyscrapers.
