CAPSTONE PROJECT

WOVEN

For my capstone project, I explored the historical weaving of Scottish tartan, specifically the tartan sett of my own family, the Fraser clan. Within this exploration, I pursued the combination of naturally dyed yarns and weaving to create four distinct variations of the historical Fraser tartan in differing colour palettes representing the four seasons, the passage of time, and the journey of life. This project represents my passion for natural dyes, weaving, and my family heritage. Inspired by reconnection to my family heritage, my journey back to nature, and the urge to create pieces which provide both utility and security.
