BIO
Magnus Hara is a non-binary ceramic artist living and working in Hamilton, Ontario. Magnus started their ceramic study at Mohawk college in the Winter of 2018 before pursuing their degree in Craft and Design with a specialty in ceramics at Sheridan College in 2019. Magnus has apprenticed for Ontario studio wood fire potter Emma Smith, and Ontario production potter Scott Barnim. Magnus draws much of their inspiration from their mentors and chosen family found through clay.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
DEPOSITION
I create functional pottery from high alumina clay bodies fired in a reduction cooled soda fired atmosphere. My work is heavily influenced by my teachers, mentors, and the lineage of the studio potter in southern Ontario. My firings are a culmination of knowledge that has been passed down to me through apprenticeships and my schooling, resulting in pots that pay homage to the past, while feeling completely my own.
