Nicole Holmes
BIO
Nicole Diana Holmes is not only a textile maker but a kid whose biggest dream was to always be creating. From coloring outside the lines and sketching on every notebook in sight, she found enjoyment in making something my own. Growing up in multiple rural towns here in southern Ontario, where she lived with her mother and elder sister. Here she learned to appreciate every aspect of her mom’s hard work. Her work consists of textiles mimicking the feeling of memories and nostalgia. Nicole’s art will always be a reflection of herself, telling a continuous story of journey and growth.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
TILL WE MEET AGAIN
“Till We Meet Again” examines how personal memories change over time. This concept was developed after Nicole's family faced the sudden loss of her grandmother along with the medical scare from her mother’s heart attack. The work creates an experience where viewers can start a discussion on what memories represent. Made in an act of remembrance but has turned into an act of healing. Diving into memories from loved ones, this project served to heal old wounds. Capturing both the positive and sorrowful moments, embracing every aspect that comes with memories, and sharing our lives with those we cherish.
