Nora Langill

BIO

Nora is a maker living in Toronto. While her practice began in sculpture working with unconventional media, she has grown to love working with wood in the Craft & Design program at Sheridan. After graduating from Western University with a BA in Political Science (2017), she began taking sculpture courses and OCADU.

She is inspired by the material culture of the home, and tries to incorporate traditional craft methods into her woodworking. Growing up in Peterborough, Ontario in a community of makers allowed Nora to envision a life filled with sharing and creating.

CAPSTONE PROJECT

COME TO THE TABLE

"Come to the Table" is a body of work that celebrates the intimacy of dining. At the table, we are to share stories and food. The pieces all carry imagery from traditional Baltic woodworking, displayed on contemporary planar dining forms. I am asking: Can we make kin with objects? How can we produce objects that reflect our domestic histories, while leaving room for our futures? The collection consists of various pieces that serve both form and function within a small dining setting.
