CAPSTONE PROJECT
IMPROVING THE WAITING EXPERIENCE AT STREETSIDE TRANSIT STOPS
I am an industrial designer focused on user-centered design, creating solutions to everyday problems while balancing function, form, and aesthetics. This project reflects my interest in street furniture and improving overlooked experiences with real-world constraints through ideation and development.
The bus arrival progress display is a lighting system that communicates wait time through diffused light. Using translucent acrylic, LED lights and connection to the GTFS-RT system, it translates real-time data into a visual element within the bus stop. It is designed to reduce uncertainty and make waiting feel more manageable. Overall, the display offers reassurance, clarity and comfort.
