Kiera Lee
BIO
Kiera Lee is a textiles artist from Mississauga, Ontario. She is a lover girl who turns her feelings into fabric. Inspired by rom-coms and early 2000s TV shows and movies, their work explores crushes, longing, and soft, cinematic love. Using stitching, collaging, weaving and beading, Kiera treats fabric like a love language. Their work celebrates the magic of love and embracing the things you "fangirl" over. Overall, their practice is about creating a space where they can truly express themselves and their interests in hopes of inspiring others to do the same.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
LOVER GIRL DIARIES
For my capstone, I created a fabric book titled Lover Girl Diaries, using techniques such as embroidery, beading, patchwork, and screen printing. Much of my life revolves around a desire to experience the kind of love I have always seen around me, on my screen, and in the books that I read. This project brings together my favourite romance TV shows and movies with my own imagery to express my thoughts, emotions, and longing for love. I explore how these stories shape my understanding of romance and influence my expectations of connection. I wanted to have the tv and book connection because that is where my fantasy to find love started as I grew up watching movies, where the princess always found her prince. Since then I have always dreamed of attaining that happily ever after.
