Zeena Ismail
BIO
Zeena Khalil Ismail is an artist and craftsperson specializing in sculpture and furniture. Her work explores themes of culture, identity, and social justice through intricate patterns, bold contrast, and pops of color. She draws inspiration from her Sudanese heritage and personal experiences as a black Muslim aiming to create art that sparks conversation and helps to connect and recognize Marginalized communities. These pieces are her creative interpretation of burnout. Caloris Basin, the charred chair, is named after the youngest crater on Mercury. Perihelion, the pendant light, is named after the nearest point of a bodies orbit around the Sun.
